This week, the local alcoholics delve into the Pay Phone and its strange network of... well... phones. Zoe finds someone near and dear to her and goes all out in an attempt to save them; this is definitely how it happens and not me just talking shit.
The gang investigates the mysterious disappearance of Olivia's entire art troupe! Well, Olivia does while Oggie and Duke kinda just fuck around for a bit, but still its the thought that counts, surely! Will Olivia uncover what happened to her friends or perhaps learn some sort of life lesson about drinking too much? Probably not!
There's too many snakes in this episode! Oggie has been kidnapped (sort of) by the personification of the Leviathan and her wife, the Loch Ness monster for some sort of strange ritual involving sea monsters and the "lake line." Olivia and Zoe go to save their favorite cryptid (the only one they really know, if we're being honest) and stop the nefarious plot hatched by Leslie and Ness. Also, they get really, really, really drunk.
The barflies are back, and things are extremely normal for them! Zoe is still a wreck, Olivia is still in Dion's shadow, Oggie can't get over Manny, and Duke, well Duke has no idea what a goddamn hacker is. Oh also they're drug runners now? Weird swerve, but alright! It's happy hour!
Something wicked this way comes! Something strange is going on the city of Chicago, and for some reason a bunch of drunks are stuck in the middle of it. A ritual of unknown purpose and power is happening, and a bunch of drinking buddies are forced into helping complete it. Too bad they're all awful sad people!
Stories carry power; the story of David and Goliath inspires the little guy to challenge the stronger, larger guy on the off chance they might actually win, while the story of Sleeping Beauty teaches us the perils of not inviting witches to the births of our children. In City of Mist, the players are the stories, brought to life; called Rifts, they can do amazing, mind-blowing things, though the mortals of the city refuse to recognize these wonders. Enter Olivia, Zoe, Oggie, and Duke, who are all Rifts, very unhappy with their lives, and incredibly drunk. What wonders will they bring into the world? Probably nothing good, to be honest.
